The PROMAD Infotech Foundation will host a virtual webinar during OGP Week 2026, themed Rebuilding Public Trust through Open Governance and Civic Participation to address declining trust in governance in Nigeria. Weak accountability systems, limited citizen engagement, and a lack of transparency drive this challenge. Leveraging the Open Government Partnership framework, the event aims to strengthen public trust by promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive participation.
The webinar will feature two sessions: one examining the Transparency Index and its implications for democracy, and a fireside chat highlighting youth perspectives on civic participation and innovation. It will convene diverse stakeholders, including youth, civil society, government, media, and development partners, to foster dialogue and collaboration.

Through interactive discussions and knowledge sharing, the event seeks to enhance understanding of governance transparency, amplify youth voices, and promote civic-tech solutions. Outcomes will include increased awareness, stronger partnerships, and sustained engagement beyond the event.

For one week in May, come together to share ideas, discuss solutions, and commit to new levels of citizen participation in government.

15 Years of the Open Government Partnership

OGP Logo

Fifteen years ago, OGP launched with a simple but radical premise: that government should serve the people, not the other way around. Over fifteen years, OGP has become the foremost global forum for advancing transparency, accountability, and public participation in government.

In an era of democratic regression and geopolitical fragmentation, platforms that sustain targeted collaborations among likeminded states and between governments and civil society are strategically vital. OGP is one of the few to endure.

The next phase requires action across the partnership: Governments forming cross-border coalitions to address common priorities; political leaders integrating openness into core national agendas; donors and funders sustaining investment and enabling scale; civil society continuing to propose, push, monitor, and demand.

The question ahead is scale and commitment.
