Event Description:
As part of OGP Week 2026, the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) will convene a youth led digital advocacy campaign and X Space dialogue to amplify public demand for the adoption and implementation of Nigeria’s Open Government Partnership National Action Plan IV (NAP IV).

The campaign will spotlight the role young Nigerians played in co creating NAP IV and advocate for immediate presidential endorsement to accelerate transparency, accountability, and citizen participation reforms in Nigeria. Activities will include coordinated social media engagement under the hashtag #SignNAPIV, youth storytelling, policy awareness content, and a virtual multi stakeholder conversation focused on the transition “From Co Creation to Implementation.”

The X Space will bring together youth leaders, civic actors, policy stakeholders, and members of the OGP community to discuss the importance of implementing NAP IV and strengthening youth inclusion in governance processes. The event aims to increase awareness of open government reforms, mobilize public support, and build momentum toward concrete government action.

This initiative aligns with the broader goal of strengthening youth participation, civic engagement, and accountability within Nigeria’s democratic ecosystem.

15 Years of the Open Government Partnership

OGP Logo

Fifteen years ago, OGP launched with a simple but radical premise: that government should serve the people, not the other way around. Over fifteen years, OGP has become the foremost global forum for advancing transparency, accountability, and public participation in government.

In an era of democratic regression and geopolitical fragmentation, platforms that sustain targeted collaborations among likeminded states and between governments and civil society are strategically vital. OGP is one of the few to endure.

The next phase requires action across the partnership: Governments forming cross-border coalitions to address common priorities; political leaders integrating openness into core national agendas; donors and funders sustaining investment and enabling scale; civil society continuing to propose, push, monitor, and demand.

The question ahead is scale and commitment.
