The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) champions Open Gov Week by promoting accessible, transparent, and unified services for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.

Understanding the distinct challenges faced by OFWs, the DMW has long created a one-stop hub to eliminate obstacles and streamline access to government services. Agencies such as OWWA, NBI, Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, SSS, and Land Bank collaborate on-site, enabling OFWs or their family members to address multiple needs in a single visit. This approach saves time, reduces costs, and eases stress for those striving for better opportunities abroad.

The DMW’s digital lobby further extends this commitment to service. By providing computers and comprehensive information materials, OFWs are empowered to access digital government services and apply for the OFW Pass remotely and efficiently.

These initiatives go beyond process improvements; they showcase the DMW’s steadfast dedication to transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement. With every new service, the DMW upholds its constant promise to OFWs and their families: wherever they are, they remain central to public service.

15 Years of the Open Government Partnership

OGP Logo

Fifteen years ago, OGP launched with a simple but radical premise: that government should serve the people, not the other way around. Over fifteen years, OGP has become the foremost global forum for advancing transparency, accountability, and public participation in government.

In an era of democratic regression and geopolitical fragmentation, platforms that sustain targeted collaborations among likeminded states and between governments and civil society are strategically vital. OGP is one of the few to endure.

The next phase requires action across the partnership: Governments forming cross-border coalitions to address common priorities; political leaders integrating openness into core national agendas; donors and funders sustaining investment and enabling scale; civil society continuing to propose, push, monitor, and demand.

The question ahead is scale and commitment.
