The African Open Government forum (assises) will bring together ministerial, parliamentary, and institutional delegations, local elected officials, technical and financial partners, and civil society representatives from several African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Madagascar, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tchad, Togo, and Tunisia.
The event will also host the 5th PAGOF Regional Seminar, following previous editions held in Tunis (2018), Abidjan (2019 and 2023), and Ouagadougou (2022).
Under the theme “Towards an Open Africa,” the forum seeks to strengthen cooperation among participating countries and institutions on reforms related to transparency, anti-corruption, citizen participation, accountability, and the modernization of public action through digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

15 Years of the Open Government Partnership

OGP Logo

Fifteen years ago, OGP launched with a simple but radical premise: that government should serve the people, not the other way around. Over fifteen years, OGP has become the foremost global forum for advancing transparency, accountability, and public participation in government.

In an era of democratic regression and geopolitical fragmentation, platforms that sustain targeted collaborations among likeminded states and between governments and civil society are strategically vital. OGP is one of the few to endure.

The next phase requires action across the partnership: Governments forming cross-border coalitions to address common priorities; political leaders integrating openness into core national agendas; donors and funders sustaining investment and enabling scale; civil society continuing to propose, push, monitor, and demand.

The question ahead is scale and commitment.
