Twitter Conference With Rev David Ogolor
REPORT FROM CONNECTED ADVOCACY ON THE COMMEMORATION OF THE 2019 OPEN GOVERNMENT PARTNERSHIP WEEK.
Having realize the need for CO-CREATION, hence the need to aligning with the vision of world leaders who upon research and experience took out time to formulate new strategy for engaging the Government.
The Open Government Partnership is an international multi-stakeholder focused on improving; Transparency, Accountability, Citizen participation & Access to information. Nigeria as a Nation became a signature body to the OGP in 2016 where-with afterwards the government came up with a two year action plan for the proper implementation of the OGP.
The OGP is expected to be domesticated in all states of Nigeria and this is why the Edo state Government ably led by Mr. Godwin O. Obaseki in 2019 set-up a Steering committee here in Edo state to help domesticate this mission.
To this effect; Connected Advocacy alongside other institution was inaugurated to champion this course. and this is why we as an organization designed three strategic programs to also add our voices on the theme for the 2019 OGP WEEK; GENDER &INCLUSION.
On the 11th of March 2019, we organized a team of four young individuals to debate on the reality of achieving gender equality in governance here in Nigeria taking the peculiarity of the African contest as priority. this event was held live on radio and the feedback gotten was not encouraging owning to the fact that more men called during the program and stated that their wives are expected to be in kitchen.
As at 6pm still on the 11th of March we had our Twitter conference with the topic; Gender & Inclusion for effective Implementation of OGP at the Grass-root. this session was headed by Rev. David Ugolor the Executive Director of ANEEJ.
And on the 12th of March 2019 we rapped up our event for the week by organizing a master training workshop which brought together key stakeholders from major institutions, Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government ably represented by Barr. Orobosa Okunbor, CSO’S, NGO’S, and other actors such as members of the press. the deliberative sessions was a huge success where participants present was educated properly on the key mandate of OGP and why we all have to come together to achieve this mission together. The event ended with the official inaguration of the Local Government Champions whose duty is to domesticate the OGP within their various local government.
To this end on behalf of the Connected Advocacy team. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who participated in the success of the OGP week here in Edo state.

Connected Advocacy for Empowerment and Youth Development Initiative (CAEYDI), is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Nigeria, whose mandate is to ensure the voices of the excluded (marginalized) are heard, creating awareness on a clearly defined thematic issues-area with a shared vision for change.
We promote OGP Community Champions, climate change disaster risk reduction and resilience , we engage youths, women, persons with special needs and marginalised communities to inclusively participate in democratic governance and education. We build young people’s capacity as participants or observers to advocate and demand for transparency and accountability in governance, extractive sector revenue management and sustainable community development.
We stand in the gap to create connections that ensure the voice’s of the marginalized and impoverished are heard. These we do through advocacy, education, engagement and empowerment to bring about practicable and sustainable development at the grassroots that will tackle inequality, poverty and climate change.
We aim to build an integral ecosystem where the marginalized citizens are included as active participants in the political economy of their society.
OUR SHARED MISSION FOR CHANGE:
Our mission is to use advocacy as a tool to connect with development partners and citizens to develop an adaptive accountable strategy and tactics, for effective stakeholder’s engagement, through knowledge exchange, alliance building, innovation, and public awareness that will ensure the eradication or reduction of poverty, inequality, unemployment and climate change.
