The Internet has created spaces for democratic participation. But what will happen if trust in democratic institutions declines? There is a growing tendency to look to self-organised, independent platforms such as Wikipedia as a source of orientation. But what can communities really achieve when it comes to the “democratized truth” on the Internet? Where are they particularly good and should play much bigger roles in society, where are they particularly bad? Can communities be infiltrated?
